Painter S.M. Sultan
World artist S M Sultan (Lal Mia) was born on 10 August 1923 in the village of Machimdia of Narail Sadar upazila. His father's name is Mecher Ali. His mother died within a few days of birth. He was admitted to Narail Collegiate School in 1928. From 1941 to 1944, he took education in the art form at Calcutta Government Art Institute. His paintings were exhibited in Pakistan in 1948, in America in 1950, in 1953 in Europe. In 1953, he returned to Narail. The world-renowned artist got 21st in 1982, "Bangladesh Charu Shilpi Sansad", "Sannamana" and "Swadhinata Padak" in 1993. In 1982, Cambridge University honored him with the title of "Man of Asia" and in 1987 the Government of Bangladesh "Artist in Resident". On October 10, 1994, this great artist left the world.
Bir Shrestha Shaheed Lance Nayek Noor Mohammad Sheikh
Bir Shrestha Shaheed Lance Nayek Noor Mohammad Sheikh was born on February 26, 1936 in village Mohishkhola of Narail Sadar upazila. On March 14, 1959, at the age of 23, he joined the EPR force. On March 25, 1971, Bangabandhu declared the independence of the country and he decided to go all out in the war. After being wounded first in the war of arms at the Sharsha border of Jessore district under Sector 8 of 5th September, 1971, he was later killed in the persecution of the Pak army. In 1974, the freedom fighter was awarded the Birshreshtha Padma in recognition of the war of independence.
Kaviyal Vijay Sarkar
Charan Kobiwalat Bijoy Sarkar was born on February 20, 1903 in the village of Dumdi in Narail Sadar upazila. His father's name is Nabakrishna Bairagi and mother's name is Himalaya Kumari Bairagi. At the teenage age, he earned fame by singing Pachali songs with village poet Pulin Bihari and Panchanan Majumder. In 1936, when he used to sing in Calcutta, he was introduced to poet Ghulam Mostafa rebel poet Kazi Nazrul Islam, village poet Jasimuddin, Abbas Uddin, literary Habibullah Bahar, Dhiren Sen. He died on 4 December 1985. He composed nearly four hundred songs.
Emperor Moslem Uddin Baiyati issued the emperor
Charan Poet Emperor Moslem Uddin Baiyoti was born in 1904 in the village of Tarapur in Narail Sadar upazila. His father's name is Abdul Wahed and mother's name is Muslimima Begum. He was a musician from his childhood and used to sing songs such as Prarari, Bhasha, Murshidi and Payar. With all the famous singers of that time, he earned fame by singing songs. Almost all the spectators would listen to him by listening to his songs. On 19 August 1990, this great singer died in his village.
